All cylinders must have current
hydrostatic inspections and visual inspections before they can be filled.
All cylinders are filled to their working pressures. For a standard
aluminum 80 cu. ft. tank with a working pressure of 3000 psi, a normal
fill will be 2800-3200 psi.
We do fill tanks with working pressures up to 3500 psi.
Please drop your high pressure tank off early and ask when it will be
ready. High pressure cylinders require a little longer to fill than
normal cylinders.
We do not over
pressurize tanks and we do not fill carbon fiber paint ball gun cylinders.
Tank pressure gauges are
available at both stores. Please check your fill before leaving the
store. If you have a fill that is more than 200 psi below the
working pressure of the cylinder, please ask the store staff to top off
your tank or check for a leak.
Standard mixes for Nitrox are
NOAA 1 (32% oxygen) and NOAA 2 (36% oxygen). Custom blends up to 40%
oxygen are also available with 24 hours notice.
All
cylinders are inspected by certified inspectors, properly trained in
cylinder inspections to PSI, OSHA, and CGA Standards. The cylinder is
inspected for current and appropriate markings then the tank is completely
drained, all accessories, stickers and the valve will be removed.
The external inspection will identify heat damage,
re-painting, odors, bows, bulges and line corrosion forming around tank
boots. The internal inspection will identify cracks, pitting, surface
rust and oxidation. The threads of the cylinder are inspected for cracks,
missing and\or damaged threads.
The valve is then inspected for the correct burst disk,
the o-ring is replaced and the dip tube is verified to be present and
secure. The threads are greased with DOW Corning 111 to prevent
electrolysis. If the cylinder has meet all standards with in the PSI, OSHA
and CGA Standards, the cylinder is reassembled and issued a current visual
inspection sticker, good for one year with in the same month.
Visual inspections take one business day to complete and
are filled after the inspection. If the cylinder does not meet
standards the tank will be permanently marked and condemned for service.
Hydrostatic inspections must be
conducted once every 5 years. The cylinder is pressurized to 5/3 the
working pressure of the cylinder and the expansion and contraction of the
cylinder is measured. Hydrostatic inspections require a minimum of 1
week to complete.
After the cylinder has
successfully completed a hydrostatic test, it is visually inspected and
filled.
Cylinders are visually inspected, completely
disassembled, and cleaned using a special O2 compatible cleaner from
Global Manufacturing. All parts are cleaned in the ultrasonic cleaner,
rinsed and reassembled using ONLY CHRISTOLUBE lubricant. All stickers and
markings are checked to PSI, OSHA and CGA Standards. After
completion the first fill is done on site.
