Summer is just around the corner and we officially kicked off the 2010 dive season last weekend with our annual Spring Fling event at Windy Point on Lake Travis. A good time was had by all, we got some great dives in, gave away millions of dollars worth of prizes, and got reacquainted with some friends we haven’t seen since the last time the lake was warm enough to dive!
All winter long we planned for this year’s dive season and we’ve got some exciting things to share with you. Here are just a few of the things we have been working on.
New and Improved Dive Club
As you have probably already noticed from the membership campaigns, emails, and activities Scubaland’s dive club has been reinvented and reinvigorated. We have a group of dive club officers led by Mike Lutz that are committed to delivering a diving experience that no other dive club in the area can touch. If you haven’t come out for a dive club event recently I strongly encourage you come out and see what it’s all about!
You can follow dive club activities and scheduled dives at the Scubaland Dive Club site
New Lines of SCUBA Gear
We are always striving to bring you the best SCUBA gear the industry offers at the most competitive prices. We are proud to announce that Scubaland now deals in SubGear dive and snorkeling gear and Waterproof exposure protection. SubGear is a new line in the U.S. market and a very popular and established line in the European market (known as Seaman Sub in Europe). SubGear is offering some innovative and high quality products at very competitive prices in order to grow their market share in the United States.
Waterproof has been steadily growing their market share among local divers who regularly dive in more challenging conditions and cooler water temperatures. Waterproof produces a number of suits, gloves, and boots that are rugged, warm, and comfortable. On top of that, the suits just look COOL!
New Destinations for Group Trips
As you may already know, Scubaland is the only dive center in the area with a full service travel agency that has specialized in dive and adventure travel for over twenty years. The Scubaland and Travel Masters teams are always on the prowl for the undiscovered dive destinations. We are happy to announce that we have found one! Our group trip to Tobago offers an “off the beaten path” destination with some of the healthiest coral reefs and pristine dive sites we’ve seen in the Caribbean.

New Customer Recognition Programs
Here at Scubaland we recognize that you have a choice when it comes to dive centers in Austin. We’d like to show our appreciation to our repeat customers. New in 2010 we are offering a customer appreciation discount on Advanced Open Water and Rescue Diver courses. If you have taken a class with us in the past we are offering you 20% off the course fee. That’s just our way of saying “Thanks for doing business with us!”
New Referral Program
Are you a newly certified diver or an old salt? Do you often find yourself at the center of conversations about diving or how to become a diver? Well, we have a bribe for you. It’s called a referral program. Send us 5 of your friends for Open Water, Advanced, or Rescue classes and you will receive a $75 gift certificate. Ask for more details and how to get enrolled in the program next time you are in one of our stores.
See you underwater!
