New to Scuba?
Welcome... We hope you find scuba diving to be as
fun, exciting, and as wonderful as we do. Getting started is easy.
Step 1) Register for a class.

Step 2) Select your snorkeling gear.
Step 3) Watch a video, read a book.
Step 4) Take the class.
Step 5) Go diving! Bring a friend!
Ok, let's go into each one in a bit more detail:
1) Register for a class. Your first class is the
PADI
Open Water Diver class. Once you complete this class, you'll be a
certified diver, and you'll get a SCUBA certification card with your picture
on it. We keep the class sizes small, so you'll get lots of personal
attention from your instructor.

We're proud to represent PADI - the Professional Association
of Diving Instructors. PADI is the worldwide leader in SCUBA instruction.

2) Select your snorkeling gear. You don't need to buy
a whole SCUBA set to get started. We recommend you buy a few basics before
you start your class - your personal gear, like mask, snorkel, fins and
booties. We'll supply the other gear you will need, like a BCD, tanks,
weights, and a regulator. At some point you may decide you want your own
gear, but if not we have lots of great rental equipment too.
3) Watch a video/read a book. First, watch the
PADI Open Water DVD or VHS video tape. Then read your PADI Open Water
Diver book (the book is easy and fun to read) and answer the "Knowledge
Reviews" at the end of each of the 5 chapters. By doing this, you reduce the
amount of time you'll spend in the classroom. Doing your homework
before class helps shorten the classroom time and will allow you to spend
more diving time in the pool learning your skills..
4) Take th e
class. The Open Water Diver class has 3
parts: academic, confined water (e.g. swimming pool), and open water (e.g.
the lake or the ocean). We offer two class formats: the first is two
weekends in a row, and the second is 4 weeknights and a weekend. You'll be
surprised how soon you get to start diving - usually on the first day of
class.

5) Then go diving. Diving is a great way to meet
people, go places, explore and generally have a great time. Austin has some
great local diving, we have lots of
group trips, and a full service
travel
agency to get you started. |

specialty courses. |
