Digital Underwater Photography

The PADI Underwater Photo course is designed to help you get good results easily, even if you've never used a digital camera before. You'll learn what equipment you'll need to take great underwater photographs , how to prepare your underwater photo system to keep it watertight and basic underwater photo techniques while diving in an environmentally friendly manner.

During skill development you'll also learn the basics of digital underwater photography and how to white balance underwater - a method of achieving natural looking photographs without a flash. Further, you'll learn how to assemble, disassemble and clean your underwater photo system.

After your Open Water session you will learn what makes your photographs even better by expanding what you know about file formats, resolution settings, making your images lighter or darker, getting good color, composing your picture, loading photographs into your computer and adjusting them to look their best.

In addition to camera equipment, students will also need access to a computer with basic photo editing software. Most PCs running current versions of Windows operating systems will meet this requirement.

Schedule
See the course schedule below. Classes typically meet two evenings to cover knowledge development sessions in the classroom. Classes will also meet for a open water dive session at Aquarena Springs in San Marcos. Aquarena offers excellent diving conditions for underwater photography and a large variety of subjects.
